This is a bad time of year for those of us ( I KNOW I'm not the only one!) who dislike shopping.
I have my list made of who we need to buy gifts for and the budget that we need to stick to, but Sir Nottaguy-Imadad wants ideas. If I were actually doing the shopping, everyone would probably get gift cards. (Even little kids like going shopping with money of their own to spend.)
I've even tried going online and looking for ideas--I! just! can't! do! it!
Do you know how hard it is to find a nice gift for someone when you can't even get in the mood to shop???
Any suggestions from your experience???

How's That Again???
Tuesday a customer wanted to cash a check for $340. I asked her how she wanted that broken down and she said three hundreds and a forty. I (sarcastically) commented that I was fresh out of forty dollar bills and would two twenties work? She didn't get it.
Today a co-worker wanted to know why we always get rid of Canadian coin instead of keeping it in circulation. When I mentioned that we were in the U.S., not Canada she still didn't understand.
On the phone a customer asked why we were opened today, but closed yesterday. She was told that yesterday was a National holiday. Her response was, but I've never been a veteran so why couldn't I get my banking done?
After showing the pictures of my new granddaughter to one customer, she said "Oh, what a beautiful little girl! What did your daughter name him???"
Any funnies in your neck of the woods???

Sprite Update

Well, little Miss Sprite Lemon made her appearance at 2:48 p.m. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 20" long.
Mrs. Lemon was told not to push so that the doctor could show up to catch Sprite, but when she was allowed to push, she only pushed for 4 minutes. That's definitely a record in our family!
Everyone is doing well and I am planning to make a trip south this Saturday to get some time with the family.
Today is D day!
D as in delivery!
Mrs. Lemon (accompanied by Mr. Lemon) is at the hospital now to be induced since Sprite has decided to be a little lazy.
Please keep them in your prayers.
Someone will be updating Mrs. Lemon's Twitter periodically.
I will post details as soon as I get home tonight.

Update on David Riley
Thanks so much for your prayers!
David Riley came through the flu with nothing more than a severly high fever, some body aches, and an overly runny nose! He was deemed well enough to go to church for both services yesterday (although by the end of the evening service he was DRAGGING!), so therefore Jessica was able to talk to ADULTS and pass off Eva to eager teenage arms!
Do you remember the days when you had been stuck at home for several days with a sick child and then all of a sudden they were starting to feel lots better and couldn't contain their energy any longer??? Add to that the fact that David Riley is a TALKER!!!!! Yeah, Jessica was almost in the throes of agony when we were there Saturday night.
Fun family times!
Now, if little Sprite would just quit lounging around and make her appearance, this Nana would have a full plate!

Prayer Please??
I just got back from a doctor's appointment with my grandson, David Riley. He tested positive for Influenza A, which means he most likely has H1N1. At this point, he's running a very high temperature and is feeling dizzy and disoriented.
Pray that he will get well quickly, and, also, pray that no one else in the family comes down with it. His baby sister, Eva, and my mom are both in the "danger ages" according to most health professionals.
I will keep you updated as I am able. This promises to be a long seige.

Have You Ever...
...wondered why the smell of Fall is so tantalizing???
...just really concentrated on the flavor and texture of a piece of food in your mouth???
...looked into the eyes of a baby and swore you could see an angel smiling back???
...read something that struck you as so profound that you had to go back and reread it???
...sat and watched a ladybug/soy bug wander across a surface just to find a little bit of moisture???
...felt the anticipation of an event so strongly that everything else in your life seems to be moving in slow-motion???
...really concentrated on the way your hands feel when you rub in a good lotion???
...had so much fun talking to someone that you only have a distant acquaintance with, that you decide you need to spend more time with them???

Recipe Help???
At one time I had a recipe (or had seen one) for a casserole that used smoked sausage, acorn squash and apples. I'd really like to make this casserole sometime soon.
Does anyone out there have a recipe they'd like to share???
